Want to Mail Your Letter Through USPS Operation Santa?

If you’d like to send your child’s letter through USPS Operation Santa, I’ve put together a guide with the 2026 deadlines, mailing address, and instructions. You can also learn how to adopt a letter and help fulfill someone else’s Christmas wishes.

Read my USPS Operation Santa 2026 guide before mailing your letter. Remember to add your child’s full name and complete mailing address inside the letter and on the envelope. Sending a letter does not guarantee adoption or gifts.

How to Make Writing a Letter to Santa a Fun Christmas Tradition

You don’t need to plan an elaborate activity to make this special. Sometimes the simplest holiday memories are the ones kids remember most.

Here are a few easy ideas:

  1. Make a cozy Christmas night of it. Put on Christmas pajamas, turn on some holiday music, and enjoy hot cocoa while the kids write their letters.
  2. Let younger kids draw their wishes. If your child isn’t writing independently yet, they can draw pictures or tell you what they’d like to say.
  3. Talk about something they’re proud of. I love that this printable includes a little space for kids to reflect on something good they’ve done or accomplished.
  4. Save the letters each year. Tuck them into a holiday memory box so you can look back at how their wishes change as they grow.
